My job organized someone's retirement here and it's often a difficult place to make a reservation with generally, as we tried afterwards for other functions with no luck. The fixed price menu was full of general stuff, and most people went with the Burgers and fries, which were good- not amazing. They served our party quickly since it wasn't too busy in the early afternoon. The best thing I ate was the dessert. That cheesecake was moist and creamy.
Perfect location right at Madison Square Garden. We always grab a bite here before a concert! Food is fresh and delicious - great drinks and friendly staff!
To me it's a restaurant that caters to people going to a show/concert/game at MSG. Not a traditional NYC steak house. Wasn't impressed at all with the food. My bone in rib eye was not a 22oz. Very small and too charred. Tables are too close to each other. My romantic dinner with my wife was anything but. Every table could hear each other's conversations. The sides are NOT shareable by any means. A couple will definitely need two. It was my birthday dinner and my wife asked the waiter if he could bring cake or slice of cheesecake. He said he could bring her a candle. We ordered the warm chocolate cake. It was ICE cold and no flavor. I wouldn't ever go back. JUST MY EXPERIENCE.
The service and atmosphere was second to none. But the food could have been better. I was sick almost immediately after eating. The oysters tasted great but likely was what made me sick. Also there was only one decent sized oyster and the rest were tiny. Then we ordered the cute de beuf (Ribeye for two) that we ordered med. rare came out medium well. Overall, it was a good experience, but for the price I expected better food.
Reservations for 1 px are not feasible online... seriously?
The place had such a good rating that I gave it a shot. I went early and got a table. The atmosphere is nice, cozy, a bit loud because of the reflections of the low ceiling.
I ordered a steak with creamy blue cheese sauce and fries. And a glass of wine.
I don't know if my order had choked the person who poured the wine, but it was spilled all around. Ok, this can happen, but it should not arrive at the customer. I asked for it to be cleaned (as I am not so fond of red wine stains on my clothes), and ... nothing happened. I then asked the person who appeared to be the maître d'hôtel for a PAPER napkin to clean the mess. So he did what I had avoided and used the fabric napkin... well, ok, I
had tried to be Nice.
The steak came - the plate was cold, which is not a good idea if you order rare meat. The cooking was perfect, meat was excellent but unfortunately, it could not make up for the rest. Fries were ok - let's say Mcdonald's level. The sauce did not deserve the name and the wine was way below the $17/glass.
In a nutshell, the excellent meat saved the 3*
Ate here before the KISS concert last night. Had an amazing aged strip steak. Perfection. Very comfortable and relaxing. Plus they have a private entrance into MSG.
Charged us $2 for ice per drink. Charged us $3 for horseradish for cocktail sauce. Tuna tartar 4 minuscule pieces.
Drinks are microscopic at $28 a drink (plus the charge for ice). At these prices …
I go to 30+ NY Ranger games per year and I always dine at Nick and Stef's on game nights.
Chef Daniel is fantastic. Great food, fresh and always cooked to perfection. And my usual server, Dimitri is great. He remembers what my individual guests like to get served (food and drink).
Highly recommend and worth every penny. Makes my whole night a great and fun experience. Thank you!!
